EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MOXI3 SUMMER GAMES

We are hosting our first ever MOXI3 Summer Games on Saturday, July 15th! The competition will be a group race that incorporates team runs and relay-style functional exercises. The event will begin with the race and continue for an afterparty with both competitors and spectators.

THE RACE

THE RUN

Teams will begin the race with a 0.5 mile run around the block, leaving from MOXI3 onto Rochester, down Orange, and back to the studio from 18th Street. Teams will complete this team run between each exercise station.

Teams must complete runs together and may not begin their exercise station until every member of the group has returned to the studio and cannot begin their runs until each person has completed a station.

Teams are responsible for practicing safe road etiquette by remaining on the sidewalk and looking out for cars and cyclists when crossing driveways and parking lots.

SKI ERG

Each team member will complete a 250 meter Ski Erg. Members will go one at a time and transition from member-to-member as quickly as possible.

Team members not actively completing the Ski Erg will be waiting for their teammates and holding a dumbbell (15 – 35lbs) overhead. Each time a team member drops the dumbbell below their head, their assigned referee will record a time penalty.

SLAM BALLS + NON-FITNESS CHALLENGE

Each team member will complete 25 slam balls (20lbs). Members will go one at a time and transition from member-to-member as quickly as possible.

There will be an additional, non-fitness challenge at this station. Each member can begin working on this challenge as soon as they finish their set of slam balls. The team cannot begin the run until the challenge is complete.

WATERFALL BURPEES

All team members will hold a high plank and complete one burpee at a time in a waterfall fashion (i.e. once the person next to you jumps and returns to high plank, you begin your burpee, repeating until each person has completed a burpee). End-to-end in one direction counts as one round. The waterfall will continue back and forth for 10 total rounds.

Team members may hold a pike or downward dog to rest but may not drop to their knees. Each time a team member drops to their knees, their assigned referee will record a time penalty.

NON-FITNESS CHALLENGE

Each team member will complete anon-fitness challenge one at a time. This challenge will be explained the day of the event. 

There will be a 5-minute time limit at this station. At which point, the team will begin their next run even if not all team members have completed the challenge.

SLED PUSH

Each team member will complete two sled pushes (down and back on the turf counts as one push). The weight of the sled will be 90 lbs plus one of your Coach Captains sitting on top.

WALL BALLS

Each team member will complete 20 wall balls (10lbs). Members will go one at a time and transition from member-to-member as quickly as possible.

Team members not actively completing the wall balls will be waiting for their teammates in a wall sit. Each time a team member stands up and out of the wall sit, their assigned referee will record a time penalty.

 

TEAMS

The competition will consist of 8 teams of 5 competitors. Teams are determined based on Team Captain (Coach) sign-ups – your team will consist of the four other people signed up for the same Coach’s time slot. 

Each team must include a minimum of two female participants. If this requirement is not met, MOXI3 staff will adjust team rosters as needed.

You do not need to plan your teams ahead of time. You are welcome to sign up for the Coach of your choosing. We will introduce all teams to one another via email once all teams are full.

HOW TO BOOK

  1. Purchase a participant credit (advanced booking June 14th at 4pm, regular booking June 15th at 4pm)
  2. Book a spot with the Team Captain of your choice 

 

THE EVENT

Participants will arrive at MOXI3 at 12:00pm for registration and race details. Spectators are encouraged to arrive at 12:15pm and the race will begin at 12:30pm. 

Both participant and spectator entry will come with tickets for food and drinks. 

  • Participant Advanced Booking – June 14th 4pm $100
  • Participant Booking – June 15th 4pm $75
  • Spectator Ticket – June 15th 4pm $50
