EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE MOXI3 SUMMER GAMES

By Jaclyn

June 14, 2024

We are hosting our second annual MOXI3 Summer Games on Sunday, June 23rd! The competition will be a group race that incorporates team runs and both fitness and non-fitness challenges.

Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about the event!

THE RACE

THE RUN

Between each station, teams will complete 0.5 mile runs around the block.

ROUTE

Leave from MOXI3 onto Rochester, down Orange, and back to the studio from 18th Street.

RULES

Teams must complete runs together and may not begin their next station until every member of the group has returned to the studio. Additionally, teams cannot begin their runs until each person has completed a station.

Teams are responsible for practicing safe road etiquette by remaining on the sidewalk and looking out for cars and cyclists when crossing driveways and parking lots.

SKI ERG + HUMAN KNOT

The race will begin with a Ski Erg and Human Knot combo challenge.

One member of your team will be responsible for completing a 1500 meter ski erg.

Meanwhile, the remaining 5 members of your team (blindfolded) and your coach will be attempting to get out of a human knot. Your coach can help call out instructions as they will be able to see.

If your team gets out of the human knot, they can relieve the team member on the ski erg and take turns any way they’d like until 1500 meters is complete. If the member on the ski erg completes 1500 meters before the knot is undone, the team can release and begin their first run.

RULES & PENALTIES

An additional 250 meters will be added to the ski erg requirement each time a team member releases their hands or removes their blindfold.

WALL BALLS

Each team member will complete 25 wall balls, reaching the designated target. Members will go one at a time and transition from member-to-member as quickly as possible.

The 5 team members not completing wall balls will be lined up executing a bodyweight squat each time their team member completes a toss.

Once each team member has completed their 25 walls, the team can begin their next run.

RULES & PENALTIES

If a wall ball toss does not reach the target or the competitor does not squat prior to release, the rep will not count.

If teammates are not executing bodyweight squats while waiting for their turn, they will receive a warning and each skip thereafter will result in a 30 second penalty.

FARMER'S CARRY

One at a time, team members will fill buckets of water and run them to a larger container on the other side of the designated area. All team members must participate equally.

Once the container is full, the team will work together to run it back to the filling trough and dump the water back. Once the container is emptied and placed back in its starting position, you can begin your next run.

SLED PULL

Five team members will be running back and forth loading the sled with designated plates. Meanwhile, another team member is attempting to lasso the sled.

Once the sled is fully loaded and successfully lassoed, the team will pull the sled over the designated line.

Once across the pull line, one coach will get on top of the sled and the team will push the sled back to its starting position and de-load the plates back to their starting position.

Once the plates are back to their starting point, the team can begin their next run.

RULES

You can split up the pull and push amongst your team, taking turns however you’d like.

There will be multiple poles on the sled. If the lasso circles any of them, you can reposition it to the center and begin the pull.

The sled must be fully loaded before beginning the pull even if it is lassoed prior.

WALKING LUNGES + PUZZLE

Each team member will complete walking lunges to retrieve two puzzle pieces at a time. The team can begin working on the puzzle as soon as they receive the first two pieces.

Once it is solved, you must mix up the puzzle pieces and place them back at the starting point. Once they are placed, you can complete your last run.

RULES

Lunges must be full range of motion – knee touching the ground and return to standing position with each rep.

Members will get one warning if not executing full ROM and 30 second penalty each abbreviated rep thereafter.

DUNK TANK

Your final time will be recorded once all team members complete their final run. However, each team will have an opportunity to improve their time via a Dunk Tank Toss.  Each team member will be able to attempt a dunk tank toss and receive the below time deductions if successful.

1st Attempt – 60 seconds

2nd – 50 seconds

3rd – 40 seconds

4th – 30 seconds

5th – 20 seconds

6th – 10 seconds

One deduction per team.

TEAMS

Your Coach can sub in for one station OR one run at any point during the race. If a team member needs a break or you think your Coach may be strong at a particular station, they can take the place of one team member a total of one time.

If a Coach subs in more than once throughout the race, it will result in a 5 minute penalty.
